Melisa Kesmez was born in Istanbul in 1980. She studied Sociology at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and received training in writing, journalism, and photography. Her cultural and arts articles and interviews have appeared in various print media outlets. She has also taken part in theatre projects as a translator and dramaturg.

She is the author of five books — Atları Bağlayın Geceyi Burada Geçireceğiz (2014), Bazen Bahar (2019), Nohut Oda (2018), Küçük Yuvarlak Taşlar (2022), and Çiçeklenmeler (2025) — as well as a children’s book titled Anneanne Gezegeni (2019).

With Bazen Bahar, she received an Honorable Mention at the 2017 Notre Dame de Sion Literature Award, and her book Nohut Oda won the 65th Sait Faik Short Story Award.

She is the mother of Nil.
